A Lovelier You

Born from my own personal frustrations with societal contexts and expectations, a short story I wrote in a day or so that investigates the external and internal shame imbedded within existing as a person, as any thing. To live without context is the worst and best thing you can do.

       REPTILIA      Alien invasion! The world is ending! But what has got your favorite boy band member feeling down? It's existential dread about his own identity. Johnny Nashville can't shake the feeling that he too is an extra-terrestrial after years of depersonalization through pop dances on digital screens. Has his skin always been this green?     Made this with a small group of friends before my senior year. The underlying goal was to use the film to decide what I wanted to study in college. Ultimately, it failed at this since I continued to be uncertain even after the film was finished. It was practically a success in every other aspect, though. It was a hard thing to make but we did it and for that I'm proud of it. I'm endlessly grateful for the experience I had with it, even if it was grueling at times and the film itself is too juvenile and weak to me now.
